Playing Risk Online for Free

I know there are many people out there who once played the old Hasbro game of Risk. They've even updated it with a few new boards. I often found it difficult to get friends together at the same time to play a game of Risk, however it did happen every now and then.

Now though there are websites that allow you to play Risk online with other players (multiplayer). You can be playing with users from around the world. You might be trying for world domination against a guy from Germany, another girl from Thailand and a guy living in Japan.

Now this is how Risk should be played. When playing on these sites there are a few things that need to be considered. One of those things is that though the majority of these sites are free to play on, they also limit the amount of playing you are able to do. They will usually have some sort of Premium Account feature. They will allow you to play unlimited games but only 4 at a time. They will then ask you to buy premium if you want to play more Risk games at a time. Premium will give you access to unlimited games.

Some websites though also require you to purchase premium if you want to play the game in real time or live. There are usually 2 types of games on these free online risk clones. One type is a long game. This will usually give you 24 hours to take your turn, meaning you take your turn once a day or a few times a day but the game usually spans a few days to a week. Then there are Live games also known as real-time games, Speed games or Quick games. This type of game will be similar to sitting down with your friends at home and playing a game of risk all in one setting, except it will be online and doesn't cost you anything.

Finding players for live games will obviously be a bit more difficult than finding players for the regular long games, however it will be much more rewarding when you find them. Figure it takes you how long to organize your friends and get them to all drive to your house? 30 minutes to an hour. Sometimes they aren't available? Expect that with these live games. A game could start quickly if people are online ready to play or could take a bit.
